Why?

We get you back on the mountain faster than almost anyone else! Most ski shops in Park City or in the Salt Lake City region are swamped with ski rentals and rental maintenance. Our mobile shop offers a fast alternative, and we travel to where you are (even the base of a ski resort!).

A ski wax or snowboard wax is one of the best ways to ensure that you are properly caring for your gear. If you are an avid rider, we recommend monthly waxes (see our events page to find the next discount wax night!) to keep your ride as smooth as possible, and ensure that your gear is tuned to changing conditions.

Have you ever felt like your board has the brakes on, while others are flying by you on the slope? Often, a simple wax can solve the problem.

Things to Know

  • There are a few common symptoms to look for that indicate it’s time for a wax!

    1. You feel like there are brakes on your skis or board

    2. The base of your skis are dry, or feel rough and look chalky

    3. A big storm or weather change is coming

    4. You are getting ready to store your gear for the season, and want to prevent rust

  • Yes! This is part of the magic of the hot wax. We will remove any excess wax from your board, and based on the conditions select one of the wax options that are best suited to the weather. These are usually focused on the expected temperature range, and fall into three categories:

    1. Cold Wax: Typically for temperatures from -10F to 20F

    2. All Weather Wax: Typically for temperatures between 10F to 28F

    3. Warm Wax: Typically for temperatures above 25F

    4. Race Wax: A type of wax formulated specifically for speed!

  • Although the answer here will vary significantly based on the length of your ski day, the type of terrain skied (ex: if you choose to ski on dirt, your wax will not last long), the typical answer is that best effects of a snowboard wax will last 3-4 full ski days.

    You may continue to ride on your snowboard or skis after that time, of course, and Salty Ski Service recommends a monthly wax for most avid skiers.
