Full Ski or Snowboard Tune
Did you clip a rock? Dent your edge? Take out a slow sign? Whatever the event, the Full Tune is here to get your ski or snowboard back in tip top shape. We fill minor base damage, sharpen side and base edges, and send you on your way with a sultry hot wax to seal the deal.
What goes into a Full Tune?
A full ski tune up can bring your skis or snowboard back from the doldrums and into to the races. For a full snowboard tune up, our mobile ski shop performs the following steps:
Gouge & Scratch Repair: We fill small gouges or scratches in your base with P-Tex. This is a type of plastic that can fuse into your damaged base area, and give you back the smooth ride.
Edge Sharpen: We sharpen the side and base edge by hand with files.
Hand Wax: A high-quality hand wax to hydrate your base and ensure a smooth ride, with a finishing buff to make those bases shine like new.
Things to Know
-
A full tune is best for when your base (the bottom of your ski or snowboard) has minor scratches or gouges. When a scratch is deep enough that the core is exposed (i.e. a different material from the one usually on your base has been exposed), a Pro Tune with more extensive repair may be necessary.
In the full tune, we fill any of the existing gouges or scratches with P-tex, a type of plastic that can melt into the defect. -
The Full Tune is our comprehensive service that includes ski base repair, edge maintenance and a wax. This is perfect for almost every situation, except where major delamination (separation of one layer of your ski core from another), large gouges or core shot repairs (where you can see significant portions of your ski core), or severe bumps or ripples in the base of your skis. These issues often require a machine press and/or a machine grind, which (sadly!) does not fit in the mobile ski shop.
